When Serg & I moved in, I had the hardest time finding coasters to keep our vintage coffee table safe from water stains. I finally found a glass set at HomeGoods but wasn't very impressed.
Well, I came across this blog: All Things Lovely that had instructions on how to make coasters with regular ceramic tiles! Today, I drove over to Home Depot & picked up a dozen white 4.25 X 4.25 inch tiles for $2.06. Then I stopped at A.C. Moore for some Outdoor Sealant for $3.50. I already had paper (tons of it), Mod Podge & some left over cork from a project that was an epic fail (I don't blog about those, lol).
I decided to cut 3 bird & 3 owl silhouettes on matching paper to add some fun to the coasters & this way people know which cup is theirs. I made a set for me & a set for a lovely friend. :)
Tada! What do you think? 2 sets of cute coasters for less than $6... Don't you just want to put your drink on one of these? ;)
