I have deactivated my Facebook account. I know... it's shocking. But it's been over a week now and I feel completely fine. My mom had mentioned that maybe instead of updating my status (I had an issue with a couple of status updates with some people who shall remain nameless), I should keep a journal. I could vent/update/write whatever I want, no one but me will read it and it'll be fun to look back on. After some thought, I agreed with her. So I headed to my office supply storage room (aka our basement) and pulled out a boring composition notebook.
I thought it looked a little boring so I brought it upstairs to my new and awesome crafting area for some sprucing up. Here are the steps to covering a composition notebook!
Materials:
- 2 sheets of scrapbooking paper
- Craft glue (my preference is Scotch Tacky Glue b/c it sticks & doesn't run)
- ruler
- X-Acto knife OR paper cutter
- scissors
Step 1: Measure the notebook. Add an inch to both the width and length so that the paper will fold over. I did not measure the width with the black binding b/c I didn't want to cover it.
Step 2: Cut both pieces of scrapbooking paper with your ruler & X-Acto knife OR paper cutter to the size of the notebook + 1 inch.
Step 3: Run the glue along the edges of the notebook but not too close so it doesn't come out of the sides.
Step 4: Carefully place the paper on top of the cover making sure to match the edge with the black binding. Press down and smooth out.
Step 5: Open the front cover and carefully snip a triangle for the corner to fold over. Make sure to do this on a diagonal. You can trim excess paper around the corner later.
Step 6: Run glue along the inside edge. Fold paper along each edge, gluing it down one at a time.
Step 7: Repeat steps with back cover.
Ta-da! A super cute journal!
By the way... taking pictures of myself doing these things is REALLY hard! LoL, next time I'll ask Serg for assistance.
