Sleep: Since my Dr. told me not to worry too much about ending up on my back, it's been a little better!
Best moment this week: I actually SAW the baby moving. It was cool. And funny. Even though it felt kind of like this:

Miss Anything? Beer and wine. Especially during the holidays.

Anything making you queasy or sick: Sweets. *sad trombone*
Have you started to show yet: Definitely.
Gender: A little man.

Looking forward to: Thanksgiving with our good friends in Ohio! (hopefully I survive the drive, lol)

Vinyl Tree Project - that was kind of a nightmare, lol

I had been thinking about what to put up in the baby's room for awhile and couldn't really think of a "theme" I really liked. I'm not a huge fan of keeping things the same for long periods of time (I bore easily...) and I didn't want to make it very "boy" specific in case we miraculously have a girl one day. I found a really adorable alphabet animal print with some funky little animals that I loved. So I bought it because it's not overly cutesy and I liked the bold colors.
How cute is the urchin?!

I sent a picture of it hanging over the crib to my sister who immediately responded with "OMG WHAT IF THAT FALLS ON YOUR BABY?!!!" To which I responded with "You are crazy" and then I couldn't stop thinking about my kid under this giant picture frame, lol.

On to the next option for over the crib... a vinyl cut out. Safe enough.
Oooh, whimsical...

But sadly, because the room is oddly shaped and the ceiling is slanted, I had a really hard time finding a cut out that fit the dimensions I needed. I could have custom ordered one for $99 (not counting shipping!). Yeah... noooo. I'm cheap, remember?!

Then I remembered that I have a Cricut that cuts vinyl. And Sure Cuts A Lot that allows you to cut any image you want.  So I found an image of a tree I loved:
And I sat at my computer on SCAL trying to figure out how the hell to cut this tree out so that it's 66 inches tall. And I sat here for a while. And even made a grid with measurements... And then I stomped away because I couldn't for the LIFE of me figure out how the hell to cut this damn tree out with my Cricut without completely botching it. I finally gave up, said f it, and decided to go the old fashioned way.
That's my work projector on it's side on top of books... I put the image of the tree horizontally on a Powerpoint slide and projected it onto gift wrapping paper that had grids on the back that I taped to the wall.

Then I traced.

Then I slowly cut it out and traced in pencil onto my Cricut vinyl.

And I slowly applied it onto the wall in pieces. Like a puzzle. The most annoying puzzle on the planet.

This is what my floor looked like as I cut the pieces out.

Because I went this route, I was able to use some of the vinyl "scraps" and leftovers to cut the thinner branches. I only ended up using three sheets of the 12X24 Cricut vinyl for the trunk & branches. I used another sheet for all of the leaves (which I cut out w/ the Cricut, I'm not that spatially inept, lol).

And here it is...
Don't worry, those pillows won't stay in there, I just haven't moved them yet!

Total cost of the project - $15 (2 packages of Cricut vinyl with 2 sheets in each at $9.99 purchased with a coupon)
Total time of manual labor - 3 hours. And lots of cursing.

I love the way it turned out... and hopefully so will this kid. Because he's going to have this tree in his room until he's 18. ;)

DIY Maternity Jeans

I graduated out of wearing my regular jeans with some help from a rubber band sometime last week. It got so uncomfortable and I hated how lumpy it looked under my shirts. I already have a pair of bootcut and straight leg maternity jeans but I was having a really hard time finding a pair of skinnies I liked. The jeans labeled "skinny" from the maternity stores were all technically straight leg... Old Navy's maternity skinnies all had horrible whiskering or fading... Gap jeans have NEVER fit me... and the designer brands were wayyyyy more than I'd ever spend on jeans that I could wear for years, much less a couple of months. So, I decided to look for a DIY tutorial. And I came upon this little gem from Natty By Design (Tutorial: DIY Maternity Jeans) on Pinterest. SCORE!

Now, Forver21 $10.80 skinnies are my favorites to begin with (which is why I was having a hard time spending over $30 on a pair of maternity jeans from Old Navy) so this was a perfect solution. I stopped by F21 and picked up 3 pairs of jeans. While there, I realized I only had one "Belly Band" at home and in order to keep this project as cost-effective as possible (especially since I thought I'd botch it), I decided I needed an alternative to buying 2 more $16.99 bands from Target. I'm cheap. VERY cheap. Initially I thought of using some bandeau bras but couldn't find any (those probably would have been a great option!), so instead I went for 2 nude $2.80 stretchy camisoles in XSmall. I left F21 after spending a grand total of $38. I know what you're thinking... big spender right here.

I used my black belly band with the darkest pair of jeans.

And the nude camis for the other two. I simply snipped the top off and sewed the cut side to the cut off waistband of the jeans. Easy peasy.
Not bare belly, I swear! lol

And now, I have THREE pairs of maternity jeans for the price of one horrible pair from Old Navy ;)
Not so shabby if you ask me!

They are so comfy because there's no zipper or button; I could wear them all day. I decided that they'll be worn for every major holiday pregnant or not because I can eat all I want without needing to unbutton my pants. Amazing. And now I have no need for any more jeans. Ever.

Bump Watch - 19 Weeks (and 1 day...)

 (photo taken on 10/31)
Turtleneck - Loft, Jeans - Motherhood Maternity, Watch - Michael Kors

I don't want to turn this post into a sad Hurricane Sandy post but my thoughts go out to all the people who lost their homes and continue to be without power, heat, water, and food. Although we were without power for a week, we were very lucky to not have any severe damage to our home. It was a scary storm and I can't even imagine what other people are going through right now...

How far along? 19 weeks and 1 day in this photo
Total weight gain/loss: +1 lbs since last week, so +4lbs pre-pregancy weight
Maternity clothes? I spent most of the week in multiple layers of sweats and fuzzy socks to stay warm, lol but the jeans in this picture are maternity.
Stretch marks? None so far. Fingers crossed!

Sleep: Still tossing and turning.
Best moment this week: Finding out the sex of the baby!
Miss Anything? Definitely drinking this week. It was hard to not have power and not be able to have a drink to unwind.

Movement: Lots of flopping around in there.
Food cravings: None this week.
Anything making you queasy or sick: More heartburn.
Have you started to show yet: Yep.
Gender prediction: We know! :)

Labor Signs: No thank you.
Belly Button in or out? I have a feeling it'll be very different soon.
Wedding rings on or off? On and same size!
Happy or Moody most of the time: The storm was scary this week and not having power for 7 days really took a toll on my mood. I'm all better now that I'm warm!
Looking forward to:
Serg being able to feel movement!
