California Love

I've been a little MIA because I'm in Cali visiting my sister & her boyfriend. I was lucky to have the chance to stop over for a couple of days before heading out to Salt Lake City for a week full of work meetings. I'm always sad when I say good-bye to my sister but this time I know I'll see her in about 2 months... at my wedding, lol.

My sister is the BEST MOH EVER! - A teeny peek at my bachelorette party

My sister did an amazing job at planning my bachelorette party. She really paid close attention to detail and chose places that would be a great time for me and all of my friends. I'm so lucky to have her as a sister!

Here are a few pictures:
Limo ride :)
All the girls @ the club (ignore the bald guy... he jumped in last minute & the picture I had w/o him was blurry. Grr)
Sparklers & penis straws, lol
My bff, sister, MOH :)

We had a blast... can't you tell? lol

Love Is in the Air - Wedding Bubbles

When I told my mother that Kirkpatrick Chapel (our ceremony site) does not allow throwing rice, petals, streamers, or anything that needs to be cleaned up after the ceremony, she was worried that Serg & I wouldn't have a proper exit. I never really thought about our "exit" from the chapel but I figured bubbles would be the easiest fix.

Well, so I thought. The first set of 90 bubbles I purchased from Dollar Tree (9 for $1) looked like this:
My mother said they were hideous and my father told me it looked like a vial to hold a urine sample (my dad has a way with words) . Point taken guys. Serg's nephews are going to love the 90 pocket-sized bubbles they're about to receive, lol.

I took my mother's advice and went to Michael's with a 40% off coupon to get prettier bubbles (cue eye roll). I created a sticker on round Avery labels, cut out tags on my Cricut, & tied a ribbon around the top:

Add a cute basket from IKEA, a sign using our wedding clip art and matted on sparkly blue paper and our bubbles are DONE:

I hope people get their lungs ready... That's a lot of bubbles to blow, hahahaha.

Super Awesome Bridal Shower!!

My bridal shower was this past Sunday. My mom planned the party, set the whole backyard up, made tons of food, and it was the perfect shower for me. She's the best mother of the bride EVER (sorry, she's not for hire, lol)

My sister, me, & my parents

My friends Marlyn & Sally (who was a great help to my mom since Nat lives in Cali & planned the fun shower games!)

 Me & Nat

 Groom's Family :)

Family friends :)

I'm so blessed to be surrounded with amazing people who care about me & Serg. I can only imagine how awesome our wedding is going to be!

Our Well Wish Cards & Guestbook

Yep, another wedding post... and there will be more where this one came from ;) Serg and I really wanted certain details of our wedding to be unique and personal. It hasn't been too difficult to think of things with such awesome wedding blogs like Style Me Pretty and our wedding planner Pure Ambiance. When Kisha presented our wedding design, the guest book suggestions included a really cool thumbprint tree that I immediately turned down because I was worried about 14 children under the age of 12 running around with ink-y fingers. But I loved the idea so much that I decided to threaten those 14 children with a pair of scissors to cut their fingers off if any ink got on my wedding dress. I'm kidding! (am I?) ;)

We asked Serg's uncle who is an amazing artist to draw a tree for us. As a guide, I sent him a picture of this tree:
Picture from Etsy Shop: Blue de Toi

Since the tree only leaves (bahaha) room for people to sign their names, I decided I would add some "well wish" cards for people to leave us little notes. I absolutely fell in love with cards I saw in Martha Stewart's Wedding magazine. So here is my take on them for our wedding:

All I did was add a little flourish to a Powerpoint slide, throw on the "Freebooter Script" font & ta-da! I'm getting them printed on matte postcards by Vistaprint (for freeeeeeeeeee). I can't wait to see how they look in person! What do you think?

23 & 24/50 - Little Bee & World War Z

Almost half way there! I stopped participating in the seasonal book challenges so I'm starting to choose books that I actually want to read... It makes a big difference, lol, surprise, surpirse!

Ok, so I was really looking forward to Little Bee and the story started off strong. I was drawn to Little Bee's voice & felt for her. But once the ball started rolling and Chris Cleave introduced Sarah & Lawrence, I couldn't connect as much. The story became a bit forced and the ending seemed so contrived and abrupt. There was so much potential in this book. The story is heart wrenching but the character development wasn't enough for me. Still a good read but didn't live up to the expectation that Oprah set, lol.

World War Z on the other hand, blew my mind. It probably wasn't the best idea to listen to this audiobook while driving in the dark by myself in my big, scary minivan. At certain points I kept looking in my rearview mirror to make sure there were no zombies coming to bite me, lol. The series of interviews were narrated by different readers and I thought they were all phenomenal. What made this book so great was that it wasn't an over-exaggerated zombie story; it was written in a way that made a zombie apocalypse seem possible. So possible that I ran through a dark parking garage without looking back... just in case ;)

A month late... but: Candice's Bachelorette Party Gift Bags

Candice's bachelorette party was a month ago but I only managed to upload all of the pictures from our weekend away in Atlantic City today. As a small gift for the girls, I put together some gift bags to start the weekend off:

In the bags I added some ring pops, a "bridesmaid" or "bride" button, a copy of the Scavenger Hunt list:

And... some glass-etched wine glasses! I had never used my Cricut & glass-etching cream before so some of the glasses didn't come out as "crisp" as I wanted but they definitely served their purpose that weekend!

Here we all are the first night at the Tropicana:
